CHRISTMAS TREE REMOVAL
IN THE GREATER NEWBURYPORT AREA
Now that the holiday season is wrapping up, it’s time to discuss taking down the tree. Whether you take it down before New Year’s or keep it up longer, here is the information you need to know as to when and where to properly dispose of your cut tree.
Amesbury, MA
Offers curbside Christmas tree pick up the week of January 4, 2026. Bare trees, free of ornaments, lights, bulbs, decorations, and sharp objects, should be placed on the curb. If snow is in the forecast, please bring trees in from the curb until the snow has ended – trees that are covered in snow and or frozen to the ground cannot be collected.
From December 26, 2025 -to January 10, 2026, Amesbury residents can drop off Christmas trees at their convenience at a GMello container that will be placed at the Compost site at 60 South Hunt Road.
Newbury, Rowley & Salisbury, MA
For the first time, Triton Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Troop 15 is offering Christmas tree pick-up services to the Triton communities of Newbury, Rowley, and Salisbury. Curbside pickup is available for a $15 donation for the 1st tree and $10 for each additional tree to the Troop.
Select your weekend of January 4th or 11th. All ornaments, lights, and decorations should be removed in advance of the pick-up. Funds raised will be used for campouts, scouting events, and Sea Base Adventure in Florida. Disposal services have been donated by the Town of Rowley & Tomahawk Tree Services.

Newburyport, MA
Curbside pickup of Christmas trees will take place only in the month of January 2026. Residents are asked to remove decorations from the trees and place them on the curb at the beginning of the week, as a separate truck will be sent to pick them up. Please note that trees may be picked up on days other than your trash pick-up.
West Newbury, MA
The town of West Newbury offers Christmas tree disposal drop-off from December 27, 2025, through January 9, 2026. A Christmas Tree roll-off container is located on the access roadway to the Pipestave Recycling Center. Trees should be cleared of all ornaments and decorations.
