Born and raised in Worcester, Maria joined the Marine Corps after graduating from UMASS, Amherst. She was stationed in Hawaii and Washington, DC for the majority of her 10-year military career, and made the rank of major before leaving to raise her two children, Brian and Jill. She has traveled extensively and called 22 places “home” before coming back to central Massachusetts to be closer to family in 2012. Maria’s an avid hockey player and you can find her every week in Worcester and Auburn’s rinks either playing in adult leagues or coaching Learn to Play programs for the little ones. She is a founder of Illinois’ Rampage Women’s Hockey team as well as the Worcester Sirens, teams that have brought hundreds of women together through sport and charitable fundraising. She also enjoys CrossFit and anything that gets her outdoors. Maria has always been in sales, whether it be Marine Corps Advertising (ask her about the commercials she’s made), selling industrial supplies for Fastenal, working for roofing & siding contractors, or managing a kitchen and bath showroom for Kohler. Her future holds a vintage teardrop trailer big enough for herself and golden retriever Cali, and a well-worn map of the National Parks, but before she does that, she would LOVE to help you find your next home!
What made you choose Lamacchia Realty?
“When I moved back to Massachusetts and was looking for property, I noticed Anthony was making a splash in the real estate scene. Absolutely shaking things up. I remember thinking ‘…this guy’s doing it right. He’s going to be big.’ Fast forward to my daughter working with AJ Bruce at Smokestack in 2013 — I remember AJ announcing he had joined Lamacchia, and we all watched his career just take off. I’m here because of that.”
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
“I Crossfit a few times and play hockey at least once a week. I spend as much time as possible with my golden retriever, boyfriend, and kids. Mostly in that order :)”
What is your favorite part of your job?
“Hearing people’s stories because everyone has one. What brought them to this point in their life? What they do for a living and how did they get into it? What do they WANT to do? But mostly, I love helping people and I think the best thing you can do as a realtor is to find someone the home that puts a smile on their face when they pull up to it. Every. Single. Day.”
Do you have any pets?
“Funny you should ask because I have the best dog in the whole world — Cali. I also live with two cats who won’t allow me to say that I “own” them, haha.”
Do you have a favorite charity?
“The Mario Lemieux Foundation. They build playrooms in hospitals for the siblings of sick kids.”
What’s your favorite sport to play or watch?
“Ice hockey!”
