Harwich is a small town located in Barnstable County on Cape Cod with 11 miles of shoreline on Nantucket Sound. The year-round population is approximately 12,243, which swells to 37,000 during the summer. Harwich is about an hour and a half drive to Boston and an hour and 40 minutes to Providence. Harwich is served by the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority buses which have connections to Boston.

What Makes Harwich a Great Town to Live In?
Harwich is known for its seven small villages: East Harwich, Harwich Center, Pleasant Lake, West Harwich, North Harwich and Harwich Port, which was named one of America’s Happiest Seaside Towns by Coastal Living Magazine in 2013.
There is no shortage of summertime activities in Harwich. Harwich is a popular destination for summer tourists because of its picturesque harbor, tranquil beaches, art galleries, and boutique shopping.
Most visitors come for the beaches, including Red River Beach, where we will be for the Fox 25 Morning News Zip Trip, broadcast live on July 5th. Visitors also enjoy going to family-friendly Pleasant Road Beach, as well as Atlantic Avenue Beach with its great view, and quiet Earle Road Beach. For sports fans during the summer, the town is host to the collegiate baseball team the Harwich Mariners, members of the Cape Cod Baseball League since 1930.
Kids of all ages love going to Bud’s Go-Karts in Harwich Port, where you can drive gas-powered go-karts around a closed track. One or two-seat cars are available.

Some of the best restaurants on the Cape are located in Harwich. Residents enjoy dining at local favorites such as Buca’s Tuscan Roadhouse for traditional Tuscan pasta dishes and their cozy atmosphere, and Reggie’s, for casual breakfast and lunch—voted 2013 Best Burger by Cape Cod Magazine.
One of the hidden gems in Harwich is Cape Cod Lavender Farm, located on twenty secluded acres overlooking Island Pond. It is one of the largest lavender farms on the East Coast. Cape Cod Lavender Farm sells a wide variety of lavender products like candles, lotions, lavender lemonade and even chocolate. It is surrounded by 60 acres of conservation land with walking trails.
Harwich is served by the Monomoy Regional School District including Harwich elementary for students pre-K to grade 4; Harwich Middle School for grades 5 to 8, and Harwich High School for grades 9 through 12. High school grade students can also attend Cape Cod Regional Technical High School, which serves most of Cape Cod.
