Barre is a picturesque town located in the center of Massachusetts. It is an hour and a half from Boston, and about 35 minutes from Worcester. The population of Barre is 5,398, an increase of 5.57% since 2000.

What Makes Barre a Great Town to Live In?
Barre is a close knit rural community in Central Massachusetts. Because of its central location, residents can travel just a short distance south to go antiquing in Brimfield, drive northeast to Wachusett Mountain for skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer, or drive less than 15 minutes to go to Rutland State Park to go canoeing, swimming, or picnicking.
The town of Barre has plenty to offer as well. There are several local shops in the center of Barre including The Country Gourmet, a specialty gourmet shop featuring a wide variety of foods, cookware, gadgets, gift baskets, and specialty coffees and teas.
Barre Players Theater, located on Common Street, is a non-profit community theater committed to staging quality, affordable theatrical productions for the town. The company puts on four productions a year and during the summer months they sponsor youth productions.
Camp Coldbrook RV and Golf resort is situated on more than 147 acres in Barre. Camp Coldbrook offers full hook up RV sites, tent camping, a 9 hole golf course, 2 swimming pools, a banquet facility, lounge, pool side tiki bar, basketball, horse shoes, bocce, playground, fishing, a laundry facility, full service bathrooms, and a country store. The Barre Falls Dam on the Ware River is another popular recreation area for visitors to enjoy picnicking, hiking, and playing disc golf.
For dining out, residents can eat at the Jenkins Inn, a restored inn listed on the National Register of Historic homes. They specialize in serving delicious entrees made with local produce and fresh herbs.
Another local favorite is Picasso restaurant, which serves fresh traditional Mediterranean cuisine.
School age children in Barre can attend the Ruggles Lane School for grades K through 6, Quabbin Regional Middle School for grades 7 through 8, and Quabbin Regional High School for grades 9 through 12.
