Bridgewater is home to Bridgewater State University, one of the first teaching schools in the country and is now one of the largest public colleges in Massachusetts. Bridgewater State currently enrolls nearly 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Olde Scotland Links is an 18-hole championship public course located founded in Bridgewater in 1997. Olde Scotland Links is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Bird Sanctuary Golf Course, which is a program that helps golf courses protect the wildlife habitats that golf courses provide, improve efficiency, and minimize potentially harmful impacts of golf course operations.
