Anthony Lamacchia joined WCVB NewsCenter 5 to talk about homebuying, mortgage rates and prices in Massachusetts.

There are more homes on the market now than since the pandemic. The median home price in MA is $657,500, up 3.1% from 2024. In June 2025, the number of homes listed was up 12.7% from last year, and the number of homes sold rose 5.3%.

“The better the economy, the higher the rates”, and right now, rates are sitting in the low-to-mid 6% range. With more inventory, it’s a better time to be a buyer, but many sellers don’t want to say goodbye to their low current rates. Still, rates are heading in the right direction.
