Anthony Lamacchia is participating in the Walk for Children’s Hospital this year. The Walk for Children’s Hospital in Boston helps fund programs for sick children to make them better and it also helps maintain the facilities where it happens. The 7-mile walk starts at 11 AM on Sunday, June 8 at the DCR Hatch Shell and goes along the Charles River. The 2-mile walk starts at noon.
We are so lucky to have the best hospital in the world so close by and ready to help all the children in need.
Why Anthony Is Doing The Walk
“On Sunday June 8th my wife Nicole, our three children, Ava, Mason, Charlie, and I will again walk to raise money for Children’s Hospital!,” says Anthony. “We are so lucky to have the best hospital in the world so close by and ready to help all the children in need. As some of you may know 14 years ago in January 2000, my sister Heather Marie Lamacchia was born with a heart defect.
Sadly, even with the best of care she passed away at just six weeks old. My family and I witnessed doctors, nurses, and everyone work day and night to save her, and then some of them even cried with us when it was over. To say this hospital is full of caring people would be an understatement.
This hospital means a lot to me and supporting it is something I will always do in my sister’s name. Unfortunately, last year I raised less than in prior years so my goal this year is to raise more money than ever.
Please take a minute to think about how terrible it is when a child is sick and needs help. I have attended Trust meetings where they discuss how these donations are used and believe me when I tell you that your money to this hospital goes to great things from research, to equipment, to simple things like toys for the kids. I sincerely hope you can make some sort of donation. No donation is too small. Thank you all in advance for your support.”
Anthony has done the Walk many times since 2000 and the last three years in a row. He has raised thousands of dollars for this event which has special meaning for him.
