Staff Star – Jacqueline Morse
Lamacchia Realty has some of the best real estate agents in the state of Massachusetts. They couldn’t be the best if they didn’t have the strong support from our inside staff, which is why we started the Staff Stars series. Our Staff Star interviews will highlight a staff member that goes above and beyond for the company, the agents and for our valued clients.
Our first Staff Star is Jacqueline Morse who is on the administrative team and does a little bit of everything including assisting management and agents to make sure the buying and listing processes are followed and go smoothly for all agents. She also handles transaction coordination for some of our top agents.
Jacqueline, when did you start at Lamacchia Realty?
I started at Lamacchia Realty almost exactly two years ago, in July 2015!
Describe your role within the company.
I’m an Administrative Assistant – which mostly means I provide support to agents and managers. For agents, this can mean anything from helping them with preparation for an appointment to editing pictures for a new listing. Otherwise, you can find me working in our company CRM, pulling reports out of MLS for blogs, or updating our office’s documents and marketing collateral. I just moved to the Waltham HQ office from the Woburn office as I’m making the transition to a new role at the company where I’ll be directly assisting the Director of Operations, Angela Walker, and the Director of Sales, Mike McGrory. I’m excited about the shift and looking forward to working with them!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love doing anything arts and crafts: drawing, painting, photography. As square as it sounds, one of my favorite ways to unwind is to throw on a TV show and work on some needlepoint. I can almost never resist brunch, so a lot of weekends you’ll find me out with friends either trying a new spot or at one of our favorites. When I can, I love to travel – the farther the better!
You said you love to travel, where have you been, what was your favorite place and where would you love to go next?
I studied abroad my Junior year of college for a semester in Shanghai, China, and then a semester in Melbourne, Australia. I was lucky enough to get to travel around both countries while staying there, visiting places like Hong Kong, Beijing, the Terracotta Army, Sydney, Uluru, and Tasmania. I spent the two months in between semesters WWOOFing in New Zealand, which stands for working for different farms and cafés around the country for room and board. More recently I visited the UK with my family to visit my sister, who was studying at the University of Kent in Canterbury.
It’s hard to pick a favorite place, but China probably wins the spot at the top – there are so many places there I didn’t get to visit, and I’d love to get the chance to go back. My next dream vacation is to Peru to ideally hike the Inca Trail and visit Machu Picchu!
Where did you to go school and what led you here?
I went to school at Smith College out in Northampton, MA, and to high school at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High. It’s a pretty straightforward story: I was hired at Lamacchia Realty through a temp agency straight out of college in 2015, and we clicked!
What is your favorite project you have been a part of while at Lamacchia Realty?
I love working on the big housing reports we put out which cover all the sale and price trends and compare them to the previous period. It’s so satisfying to see the graphs and the data come together to show a picture of the year and to give us some insight into the next!
What is the most important part of your job?
I would say the most important part of my job is being a point of contact for the agents – being able to provide them support, answer their questions, and help them solve problems is extremely satisfying.
How would you describe the culture at Lamacchia Realty?
Cooperative! Supportive! Friendly! If I seem effusive in my praise it’s only because I truly appreciate this team of professionals I get to work with here. Everyone here is hard-working and dedicated – to both their own jobs as well as to see the company succeed. The feeling of being part of a team who will both support you and have your back if you need it is so motivating.
Lamacchia Realty also has a very strong “fix-it” culture; if something is wrong (even something tiny), it gets brought forward and fixed. Problems don’t stagnate. We’re always updating our systems and procedures to be as on-the-ball as possible, and it makes it easy to bring up to management, “Hey, this thing isn’t working for me.”
What other places have you worked and what about Lamacchia Realty is different?
For me, what sets Lamacchia Realty apart from other places I’ve worked is that the culture is great. The company’s commitment to every employee’s growth and success was apparent from the moment I started.
Management also does a wonderful job: they’re always accessible, love new ideas, and are always working to make themselves better. If you ask someone a question they don’t know the answer to, they acknowledge they don’t know, write down your question, and you can expect a follow-up email or call from them later with the answer.
Jacqueline is an outstanding employee! She is extremely knowledgeable & proactive which are wonderful qualities. She always has a smile on her face & a positive attitude which is contagious! Her work ethic, determination to learn & willingness to jump in & step up where help is needed shows just how much of a great role model she is for others.
